Liah is the ripe old age of 2 and1/2. While my seemingly perfect child is advanced in most areas (just ask me, I am Mom!) she has a problem. She is a Nuk-a-holic. Now mind you her life is being shaped by a pretty demanding set of adults who, while enjoying fun, hold her to a high set of standards. She ONLY has the Nuks when she is in her room to sleep (did I mention she is already in a Big Girl bed?!) She holds one Nuk, which she has deemed the bad one (due to the hole it has from wear and Liah fingers) and as expected puts the other in her mouth (the "Good" one!)! Since we are pretty anal parents, sound on making good choices for our child, in which to foster healthy habits and really nice teeth.... we decided no time the present to force Liah to go COLD TURKEY! We have ample opportunity to deal with unpleasantness because we are both on break. So, Sunday night we set out to save our child from buck teeth. Heaven help us! We hid both Nuks and did our normal tuck-in routine. Liah was devastated to put it mildly. The blind ranting and raving started (She gets this from me!). She was crying, screaming and throwing covers in the search for the Nuks. She proceeded to ask us (well grill us with veins popping) if we gave them to Maia. We attempted to go on with our night and went down stairs to close up. Keep in mind Liah is "trapped" in her room by a child gate. All of the sudden the rage seemed to invade the entire upstairs. I heard scampering footsteps and then she appeared at the top of the steps. Liah's Nuk insanity propelled her with ease over the gate. She was taking matters into her own hands... she was determined to find the Nuks! We brought her downstairs to reason with her. We have done this all of her life. What a precious moment to see my Hubby tell our 2 year old why she no longer needed the beloved Nuks. The following video was Liah's standoff. She then refused to go to sleep.... delirium set in.... across the board. We gave in... reunited Liah with the Nuks.... we all slept soundly. We have decided to try again tonight.
