BIg-BIG Vegas blog!

We left early Friday morning on our Vegas road trip to attend and participate in Jen and Todd's wedding.
I should have known when there was an alarm malfunction (thank goodness Manda called to wake us up and send us into a "Home Alone" like rush to leave) that this was just the beginning of an interesting weekend.
This is Maia, prior to the 3 times she projectile vomited on Mom!
Liah had a great time in the car (even though it required the nuk, which everyone knows I hate! Nuks are for sleeping.... ONLY in my book!). She was dry the entire ride... another point for the positive!
Lauren joined us on the "bus" while Manda and Grandpa and Grandma led the adventure, just like Dora (per LJ!).
With reasonable timing, a hike through the Hoover Dam, 3 wardrobe changes (note to self... pack lots of extras when traveling with children. One going and coming outfit is NOT sufficient with small ones!) and one thumb painted in hot pink... we arrived in Vegas.

We frantically rushed to ready ourselves for the 5 o'clock ceremony.
MOH
MOH and Uncle Tom... who by the way did yet another amazing job on the flowers for the wedding.
Aunt Therese, Mother of the Bride and JLO, Bride worked to ready Princess Ella, flower girl for her walk down the aisle.

Liah enjoyed getting in the way! :)

Time for the wedding.

The vows and rings.....
The windy day Unity Candle fun (It lit!)
Mr. and Mrs. Todd James
Sealed with a smooch!

Time to party! Dancing Queen award is definitely a tie between Aunt Connie, Liah, Esther and Ella! Seeing family was the best! We enjoyed the reunion so much!
Todd was really excited to be part of my family! I couldn't give him the shotgun talk, so instead it was the gun-show talk!
Seeing friends was interesting....
Auntie Katie Lady was a big hit with Liah! She needs to fly our way!
Liah was shaking her groove thang... lots!
The view from the terrace.
Maia's view- she was NOT herself. It was sad she wasn't able to enjoy the trip and visiting with family. She is usually the most friendly, outgoing and active baby.
Next time we are making it a date weekend!

I love this picture of the girls... harassment cousin style!

Liah thought taking her shoes off to dance was okay because her aunties did!
Grandpa showed off his moves!
And his vocal stylings with Aunt Jen's Dad!

This is before the bouquet toss and Jen throwing it onto a ledge! Jen Slak folks- oops I mean Jen James folks!
Spring Break '08

What are they laughing at?
Later that night..... after tucking in the kids for 4 hours (yep 4 hours- a combo of sick babies and an evacuated hotel.... thanks to someone pulling the alarm.), it was time for fun. Some had more fun than others.
Aunt Shell is the best! We can't wait til she comes back to AZ!

We only spent and lost $20 gambling!

I cashed out after every $1 spent.... it was fun!
Chris was not into gambling!

He still had fun, Manda too.

We played photoshoot!
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Myspace default!

Lauren (aka- Lori) and her Marilyn moment!

ahhhhhhh don't eat her!

She took her shoes off in the parking garage. ewwwwwwww
The next day.... We were the only ones functioning at 3pm. Gaga and Gapa were sight seeing. We were dealing with sickness and sleepies!

Poor babies!

Finally, after sadly missing our date with Auntie Meghan and the strip, we made it out of the hotel. We got to see the lions.
We got some much needed family time and dined at the Rainforest Cafe'!

Maia came out of her slump, threw down on some mac-n-cheese and then passed out on Mom... so much for seeming "back to herself!" :(
Dinner was yummy!

Then, it was time for good-byes! :( That is always the hard part. Sunday we headed home. We had to travel through a snowstorm... further points in the "you have got to be kidding me, this stinks" catagory!

And yes this is Northern AZ in March!? What the hek!
We stopped to wait out the snow at the world's busiest Wendy's!
Liah called home to tell it we missed her!
Finally, the end of our first family vacation came to a close.
A few points of reflection:
Never go to Vegas with small children! haha!
Never underestimate the chance your ALWAYS healthy baby will chose her sole family vacation to get sick (hope it and the hives she now has goes away in time for the big 1st Birthday on Wednesday!)
Never pack "just enough" when you are the Mom of 2 small children.
Never wait too long to see family again!
What happens in Vegas, did not stay in Vegas! Hope you enjoyed the retelling of the crazy journey! :) Tami
